I decided, seeing as I’m not very good at the “about me” thing, that it would say far more about me if I put some of my favourite quotes here.
I think this is my favourite quote, when I first read it I felt that someone else truly understood me and I put it here because this is what is in my soul:
I do not want to be the leader. I refuse to be the leader. I want to live darkly and richly in my femaleness. I want a man lying over me, always over me. His will, his pleasure, his desire, his life, his work, his sexuality the touchstone, the command, my pivot. I don’t mind working, holding my ground intellectually, artistically; but as a woman, oh, God, as a woman I want to be dominated. I don’t mind being told to stand on my own feet, not to cling all that I am capable of doing but I am going to be pursued, fucked, possessed by the will of a male at his time, his bidding. Anais Nin
Likewise the following is a shorter quote along the same lines:
I, with a deeper instinct, choose a man who compels my strength, who makes enormous demands on me, who does not doubt my courage or my toughness, who does not believe me naive or innocent, who has the courage to treat me like a woman. Anais Nin
The most accurate love quote I have found is next, though very short I believe it explains everything about the nature of love:
Love is that condition in which the happiness of another person is essential to your own. Robert Heinlein
Another love quote that I adore is so generic but so beautiful that I have to include it as it was part of the reason I fell in love with Shakespeare:
My bounty is as boundless as the sea, my love as deep; the more I give to thee, the more I have, for both are infinite. William Shakespeare
A recent quote that has come to my attention but that resonates with me completely is:
Be yourself; everyone else is already taken. Oscar Wilde
A truer word was never spoken:
Sanity and happiness are an impossible combination. Mark Twain
